چکیده
We report the discovery of an X-ray luminous galaxy cluster at z = 1.26. RXJ0848.9+4452 was selected as an X-ray cluster candidate in the ROSAT Deep Cluster Survey, on the basis of its spatial extent. Deep optical and near-IR imaging have revealed a galaxy overdensity around the peak of the X-ray Based in part on observations obtained at the W.M. Keck Observatory Based in part on observations obtained at the Kitt Peak National Observatory Physics Department, University of California at Davis, Davis, CA 95616. Visiting Astronomer, Kitt Peak National Observatory, National Optical Astronomy Observatories, which is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc., under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.

High-redshift Cool-core Galaxy Clusters Detected via the Sunyaev-zel'dovich Effect in the South Pole Telescope Survey
We report the first investigation of cool-core properties of galaxy clusters selected via their Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (SZ) effect. We use 13 galaxy clusters uniformly selected from 178 deg2 observed with the South Pole Telescope (SPT) and followed up by the Chandra X-ray Observatory. They form an approximately mass-limited sample (>3× 1014 M h−1 70 ) spanning redshifts 0.3 < z < 1.1. Using previou...
متن کاملJKCS 041 : a colour – detected galaxy cluster at z = 1 . 9 with deep potential well as confirmed by X - ray data
We report the discovery of JKCS041, a massive near-infrared selected cluster of galaxies z = 1.9. The cluster was originally discovered using a modified red-sequence method and was also detected in follow-up Chandra data as extended X-ray source. Optical and near-infrared imaging data alone allow us to show that the detection of JKCS041 is as secure as the detections of clusters in the REFLEX s...
متن کاملXMM - LSS discovery of a z = 1 . 22 galaxy cluster
We present details of the discovery of XLSS J022303.0−043622, a z = 1.2 cluster of galaxies. This cluster was identified from its X-ray properties and selected as a z > 1 candidate from its optical/near-infrared (IR) characteristics in the XMM Large-Scale Structure Survey (XMMLSS). It is the most distant system discovered in the survey to date. We present ground-based optical and near-IR observ...
متن کاملScaling relations of the colour – detected cluster RzCS 052 at z = 1 . 016 and some other high redshift clusters
We report on the discovery of the z = 1.016 cluster RzCS 052 using a modified red sequence method, followup spectroscopy and X-ray imaging. This cluster has a velocity dispersion of 710 ± 150 km s, a virial mass of 4.0 × 10 M⊙ (based on 21 spectroscopically confirmed members) and an X-ray luminosity of (0.68± 0.47)× 10 ergs s in the [1-4] keV band. This optically selected cluster appears to be ...
متن کاملA new (2+1)D cluster finding algorithm based on photometric redshifts: large scale structure in the Chandra Deep Field South
Aims. We study galaxy clustering and explore the dependence of galaxy properties on the the environment up to a redshift z ∼1, on the basis of a deep multi-band survey in the Chandra Deep Field South. Methods. We have developed a new method which combines galaxy angular positions and photometric redshifts to estimate the local galaxy number-density. This allows both the detection of overdensiti...
